Privacy is all over the internet now, and everyone wants to keep as much of their data away from the big tech companies as possible.
If you don’t trust Cash App, and the parent company behind it (Square Inc., managed by the CEO of Twitter), you may wish to know how to delete your Cash App history.
If you’ve previously unaware, Cash App records every last transaction you make on the platform. They make this information available to you on-demand, so you can review your payment history.
Can you delete your Cash App History? If yes, how?
These and more are questions that I’ll be answering in this concise piece.

Can You Delete Your Cash App History?
Like most other things on Cash App like adding multiple bank accounts, you can’t. This is justifiable, however, as this limitation is not exclusive to Cash App. Alternative payment services like PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay won’t allow you to modify or delete this information either.
While you can’t edit or delete this information, you can always access it on demand. If you ever need to scrutinize your payment information, it’s always available and downloadable right inside the app.
But, should you want to know how to delete your Cash App history?
Here’s something interesting; you’ll never need to delete your Cash App payment history. If ever, all you’ll ever wish to do is to recover the details of payment.
Why You Don’t Need to Delete Your Cash App History
Cash App is private and secure by design. While you may think that the same goes for all payment apps, you can’t be more wrong.
A Cash App alternative, Venmo, doesn’t incorporate privacy by design. Out of the box, all your Venmo transactions are public and accessible by any Venmo user.
For Cash App, however, the reverse is the case. The only person who can view your Cash App transactions is you. Unless you give someone else access to your phone and Cash App PIN, no one can access your history.
If your Cash App payment history is that private, why then, would you ever need to delete it from the app?
If you must get rid of your Cash App transactions history, you have an option. However, I’m not sure if you are willing to delete your Cash App account, because that’s the only available option.
How to view and print your Cash App History
Recall when I said the only thing you’ll ever want to do regarding your Cash App account is recovered your Cash App history.
Well, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Before proceeding to teach you how to close your Cash App account to wipe your history, I figured you should get a copy of your Cash App history first.
Here is how to view your Cash App history, download it to a CSV or PDF, or even print it out as a hard document.
- Sign in to your Cash App computer on a Mac or PC. You cannot print your Cash App history through the mobile app, so you have to log in from a desktop computer.
- Click on Activity from the tabs on the left, and click on Statements. After following these steps, you’ll see a list of all your transactions, which you can sort by month.
- Press the Ctrl + P key combinations on your keyboard to print your transaction history. You can print it out if you have a printer connected, and you can also save it as a PDF to print later.
- You can also sort the transaction via date and time.
Once you have your transaction history, you can delete your Cash App account to clear it, with the assurance that you’ll have a backup if you ever need it later.
How to Delete Your Cash App History
I’ve said it earlier; there’s only one way to delete your Cash App History: closing your Cash App account as a whole.
Since Cash App will let you create another account after closing your first one, you can simply close your previous account, and immediately create a new one with the same details.
A caveat to this, however, is that you cannot reuse your previous $Cashtag. If you resort to closing your Cash App account to delete your Cash App history, your new Cash App account will go by a different $Cashtag.
If that’s what you want, you’ll get it here.
To completely get rid of your Cash App history, you’ll need to close the account first. Here is how to close your Cash App account.
- Launch Cash App on your phone and navigate to the profile section of the app. It’s at the top right corner of the interface.
- Navigate to the bottom and tap ‘Support.’ From the dropdown of support topics, select Something Else.
- On the resulting menu, find and select ‘Account Settings,’ and tap ‘Close Account’ on the resulting page.
These steps will close your Cash App account and delete whatever information Cash App has about you, including your payment history.
Then, you’ll need to create another Cash App account to continue using the payment service.
Since you previously had an account, I’ll assume that this is something you can do on your own without any assistance.
A common misconception about deleting Cash App transaction history is that uninstalling Cash App on your phone automatically makes it inaccessible.
Nothing can be further away from the truth. As evidenced earlier on in this article, you can access your Cash App history by logging into Cash App from a desktop, even if you don’t have the app on your phone.
Conclusion
Cash App is a secure payment service that keeps your transaction private. For this reason, you don’t need to delete your Cash App history.
For some people, however, perceived privacy isn’t enough. If you are hell-bent on removing your transaction history from Cash App, hiding it from you or anyone else, you have an option.
There is a significant caveat, however: you will lose your $Cashtag.
